Tigers
Image result for tiger and cubs
Tigers are the biggest breed of the cat family.
Tigers can reach up to 3.3 metres long and weigh up to 330 KG’s

There are lots of breeds of tigers like the sumatran, the siberian and the bengal tiger . There are also the south china tiger, the malayan tiger and the Indochinese tiger.

Tigers can live to 25 years old
A group of tiger is called a ambush or a streak
Tigers are great swimmers, they can swim up to 6 kilometers.

Tigers can go up to 65 kph and usually hunt alone at night. Also Tigers can jump a length of 5 meters long.
Sadly some breeds of tigers are going extinct because they hunt the cows in villages and the farmers have to shoot the tigers to protect the cows. They are Also going extinct because people hunt them for their skins and teeth, this is called poaching and it is illegal.

Baby tigers are called tiger cubs
The mother tiger gives birth after 3 and a half months.
There are usually 3 or 4 cubs in each litter
In the wild they usually have the cubs in a cave without the father in the cave

Fun fact
Tiger cubs are only 2 pounds when they are born.

  1. Hi Dylan. I really like your writing topic. Are Tigers your favourite animal? I did not know that tiger cubs are so small when they are born! Miss H

  2. Hi Dylan,
My name is Nazella and I am a year 8 at Panmure Bridge School. You have gathered up great pieces of information. I didn't know that there were so many species of tigers. I also love how you added a picture of a tiger. Why are tigers your favorite animal? My favorite animal is probably monkeys because they look silly and adorable. Keep up the great work.

My name is Jayden I go to Karoro School. I live on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand. My favorite thing on the West Coast to do is to go in the bush and build huts and tracks. I really liked you piece of writing, I like the photo a lot because of the tigers and because it goes well with your piece of writing and it's good that you gathered so much information about all the types of tigers!!

Next time for your piece of writing you could add a better introduction instead of ‘‘Tigers are the biggest breed of the cat family.’’ This is still a pretty good intro but you could make it a lot better by saying: Kia ora my name is Dylan and today I will be talking to you about Tigers. This would tell your readers what your talking about and even why which could engage them more. You could also add a better conclusion for each paragraph you could also look up a hamburger paragraph which would make it an exceptional piece of work.

I really liked the way you explained that tiger can reach a speed of 65 kph and also hunt at night with great detail, and showed a photo them. I also find it very interesting how tigers live to 25 years of age, do you know if that's how old the oldest tiger got or if it's their average age. I’ve also never heard of the Indochinese Tiger but i’ve i’m pretty sure i've seen them before in the zoo in Christchurch. So overall you writing was very good also if you would like to check out my blog or even better comment on it you can copy and paste this link: http://karorojaydent.blogspot.co.nz/

    -Sincerely Jayden

  5. Hi there Dylan

I really liked it how you gathered so much information on the tiger. I never knew that they had so many extreme talents. The picture at the top really suits the last paragraph. I learnt a lot of things about the tiger.
