Self respect

Over the last week and a bit we have been talking about self respect. We have learned that self respect is being confident  with ourselves and taking care of our stuff. Our class made a video showing some of the things that relate to self respect. Here is a link to the post: link

Argument/opinion. Cause and effect

This week we have been doing argument writing. So far we have done cause and effect. cause and effect is like, the fish died as a result of pollution in the water.  I thought this was easy. Here are some examples the class thought of: 

Food Pyramid

Over the last few weeks we have been doing a food topic. Today we did a food pyramid. We had to do all the food groups and comparing how healthy they are. Here is the finished work:

Totara 2s favorite treat

  This week we have been doing charts and graphs. We had to choose a topic and then interview people about our topic. I chose to do "What is totara 2's favorite treat". I found this easy because it was simple and fun. I interviewed 17 people. here are the results:

WEARABLE ARTS

For the past  term we have been working on wearable arts.  If you don't  know what wearable arts is, its when you make a costume out of random things you can find around the place. We got to work in groups so I worked with Jacob and rikki-lee. We had  a few  problems coming up with the idea but we eventually got it and started making the costume and I think it turned out pretty good.  We made it out of mainly an old singlet and newspaper.

This week we have been doing matariki work. We got to choose out of a bunch of different ones, I chose to design a trap to catch an animal. Here is the finished piece of work hope you like it.

 This week we have been doing reports on animals. I did a tiger because their my favorite animal.  I think I did good because I had Fun. Here is the finished bit of work:

Tigers

 

Tigers are the biggest breed of the cat family.

Tigers can reach up to 3.3 metres long and weigh up to 330 KG’s

There are lots of breeds of tigers like the sumatran,the siberian and the bengal tiger . There are also the south china tiger, the malayan tiger and the Indochinese tiger.

Tigers can live to 25 years old

A group of tiger is called a ambush or a streak

Tigers are great swimmers,they can swim up to 6 kilometers.

            Tigers can go up to 65 kph and usually hunt alone at night. Also Tigers can jump a length of 5 meters long.

Sadly some breeds of tigers are going extinct because they hunt the cows in villages and the farmers have to shoot the tigers to protect the cows. They are Also going extinct because people hunt them for their skins and teeth, this is called poaching and it is illegal.

Baby tigers are called tiger cubs  

The mother tiger gives birth after 3 and a half months.

There are usually 3 or 4 cubs in each litter

In the wild they usually have the cubs in a cave without the father in the cave

Fun fact

Tiger cubs are only 2 pounds when they are born.
